Privacy
If you don't sign in, we store nothing
You can play every day without an account. Your progress, statistics and game history are kept in your own browser's local storage, on your device. They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data deletes them permanently.
If you do sign in
Signing in is optional and exists so your statistics follow you between devices. We store:
- Your email address, which is how your account is identified.
- If you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google provides.
- One row per completed puzzle: the date, the answer, whether you solved it, how many guesses you took, and the guesses themselves.
- When your account was created and when you last signed in.
If you played signed out on a device and then sign in, that device offers its stored game history to your account once. Results already recorded on your account are never overwritten.
Analytics
We use Fathom Analytics to count how many people visit and which pages they look at. Fathom is a privacy-focused service: it sets no cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not follow people between websites. We see totals, not individuals — we can't tell that a particular visit was you, signed in or not. Their privacy policy describes what they do with the request.
We also count four anonymous milestones the same way: that a game was started, that one was won, that one was lost, and that a visit was signed in. Each is a bare tally with nothing attached to it — no account, no date, no word and no guesses — so it says how many people did a thing and never which people. We count them because signing in is optional and most people play without an account, and these are the only numbers that describe those players at all.
What we don't do
There is no advertising, no third-party ad or social tracking, and no profile built about you. We do not sell, rent or share your information. The only cookie set on this site is the one that keeps you signed in.
Who else is involved
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Resend — sends your sign-in link. It receives your email address to do so.
- Fly.io — hosts the site and its database.
- Cloudflare — carries traffic to the site and sees the usual request information, including IP addresses.
- Fathom Analytics — counts visits, without cookies or personal data.
Film information comes from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your account and results are kept until you ask us to remove them. Email [email protected] to get a copy of your data or to have your account and every result deleted. Deleting an account deletes its results with it.
Children
Horrordle is a horror-themed game intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Terms of use
Horrordle is free to play. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the site.
Your account
You're responsible for the email account you sign in with, since anyone with access to it can sign in as you. One account per person. We may suspend or remove accounts used to abuse the service.
Fair use
Please don't attack, overload or attempt to break the site, script it to submit results automatically, or use it in a way that spoils the game for other people — including publishing upcoming answers.
The game itself
Puzzles, hints and editorial text are © Living Dead Co. Film titles, images and metadata belong to their respective owners. Horrordle is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any film, studio or rights holder mentioned in it, nor to any other word game.
No guarantees
The game is provided as it is, without warranties. We can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we're not liable for any loss arising from using it — including the loss of statistics or game history. It's a word game; please treat your streak accordingly.
Changes
We may update these terms or the privacy notice. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
